Badir, which in Arabic means “Take the Initiative” is a three-year program designed to equip young Jordanian leaders with the knowledge, skills, and abilities they need to strengthen and scale up their social change projects. Launched by the International Youth Foundation (IYF) and Starbucks, Badir was created in the belief that engaging the creativity, talent, and compassion of today’s young leaders is one of the best ways of securing a more productive and prosperous future for all Jordanians.

Over three years, Badir will create a national network of 45 leaders, ages 18 to 30, who have successfully implemented social change projects. Offered in both Arabic and English, the program will provide them with social innovation skills and management training to help them strengthen and expand their projects. Through the program’s Innovation Fund, participants will be eligible to receive a monetary award of up to USD $5,000. As a result of the financial and technical support made available through the Fund, each project is expected to directly impact at least 100 additional community members.

Projected Results (over three years):

  • 45 youth-led initiatives

  • 120 training hours

  • 200+ applicants

  • 4,000+ indirect beneficiaries
